EyeCare Professionals of Powell is pleased to offer a wide range of optometric services, eye care products including eyeglasses, specialty eyewear, frames, and contact lenses. Our team of eye care professionals is experienced and friendly. We’re here to help all patients understand their benefits, schedule appointments, and fulfill their eye doctor’s orders. Jason R. Miller, O.D., M.B.A.

Dr. Jason R. Miller is a 1995 graduate of Ohio Dominican College where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He continued his studies at The Ohio State University where he earned a Doctorate of Optometry in 1999. In 2006, he completed his Masters in Business Administration. Dr. Miller began practicing with Dr. Kuhlmann at EyeCare Professionals of Powell in June, 1999 upon graduation and licensure.

Dr. Miller is a faculty member at Ohio State University and has instructed students in the Binocular Vision and Pediatrics Clinic. He has done extensive work in the area of children’s vision. Research has indicated 70 to 80 percent of children in learning disabled classes have an undetected vision problem. 1 in every 20 children suffers from Amblyopia (“Lazy Eye”), including Dr. Miller’s son whose condition he detected at 22 months. The earlier any vision concerns are detected, the better the prognosis can be.

Dr. Miller proudly volunteers his time for many school vision screenings and the “Realeyes” initiative. For his dedication, he recently received the 2004 Community Service Award for the Olentangy School Board. He also examines and provides eyeglasses to needy individuals through the American Optometric Association’s Vision USA Program, and VSP’s Sight for Students. He is currently the Central Ohio Zone governor in the Ohio Optometric Association and the Central Ohio InfantSEE coordinator. He is also an active member of the American Optometric Association, the Olentangy Rotary Club, Powell Chamber of Commerce, and the Powell United Methodist Church.

Dr. Miller and his wife, Melanie, reside in Powell with their three children; Jacob, Joshua, and Megan.

San-San L. Cooley, O.D., M.S.

Dr. San-San L. Cooley received her undergraduate and graduate education at the University of Minnesota, earning her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees. She continued on to obtain her Doctorate of Optometry, graduating magna cum laude from The Ohio State University, College of Optometry.

She was selected to become part of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society and also received the Patient Care Excellence Award and the William Feinbloom Low Vision Award. Following graduation, Dr. Cooley completed a residency focusing on the management and treatment of ocular disease at the Cincinnati Eye Institute.

Dr. Cooley is a current faculty member at The Ohio State University, College of Optometry. As Clinical Assistant Professor and attending doctor, she supervises interns and examines patients in Primary Vision Clinic, Ocular Disease Clinic, Vision Rehabilitation Clinic, and at the Student Health Center. Dr. Cooley is also an instructor for clinical skills labs at the OSU College of Optometry.

Dr. Cooley is an active member of the Ohio Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, and the American Academy of Optometry. She is involved in the community as a member of LifePoint Church, and is a presenter of “Realeyes,” an education program that teaches children and their parents about eye health and safety. She has volunteered on an optometric service mission with Student Volunteers for Optometric Service to Humanity (SVOSH), providing eye care to underserved populations in Ecuador.

Dr. Cooley is certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. She practices full scope optometry and sees patients of all ages providing vision and ocular health examinations, prescription eyeglasses and contact lenses, diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases, emergency eye care, and referral services for various ocular conditions.

Marcia Hoepf, O.D.

Marcia Hoepf received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from The Ohio State University in 2005 and graduated with honors from The New England College of Optometry in 2010. Upon completion of her optometry degree, she received an additional year of training as a resident for the Boston Veteran’s Association. Her residency focused on the treatment and management of ocular disease and included additional work with large hospitals throughout the Boston area.

Dr. Hoepf has unique training in the area of glaucoma which includes practicing for 2 years alongside a very busy and well known glaucoma surgeon in Columbus. She treats a wide range of ocular diseases and continues to co-manage with many cataract, glaucoma, retinal and refractive surgeons in the area. Dr. Hoepf also has a special interest in the pediatric population. She has experience working with children of all ages in the treatment of common refractive and binocular disorders.

Dr. Hoepf has been a faculty member at the New England College of Optometry where she supervised externs and residents in a multidisciplinary community health center. She continues to teach student externs in the private practice setting here in Ohio. She has lectured locally and nationally for continuing education conferences and has published in various academic journals. Dr. Hoepf has received grants from the National Institute of Health (NIH) to perform ocular laboratory research with animals. She also has a commitment to serving underprivileged populations and traveled on a mission trip to Nicaragua in 2008 where she provided eye care to numerous villages throughout the country. She has been an active member of the American Optometric Association and the American Academy of Optometry.

Dr. Hoepf resides in Worthington with her husband, Jeff, and has two little boys; Samuel and Everett. She enjoys running, hiking, camping, skiing, and traveling.

 

Diana Milheim, O.D.

Having grown up in Northeast Ohio, Dr. Diana Milheim is a 1990 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Optometry.  While in school, she completed externships in low vision and the VA Hospital in Dayton.  She also worked in several private and commercial practices and assisted in contact lens studies. She has enjoyed living and practicing in several areas of the country over the years.  She and her husband Mike had their four daughters in the Chicago area, while Dr. Milheim worked in private practice in Skokie, IL. Mike’s new job relocated the family to central New Jersey in 2004.  Dr. Milheim enjoyed several years at home with the children before returning to work. She tended to patients in several settings before discovering two private practice opportunities in New Jersey. 

She enjoys practicing general optometry, which allows her to fit contact lenses, treat eye disease, co-manage cataract and LASIK patients, and see to all populations. The variety in setting and age has appealed to her and keeps the profession interesting.

Since moving back to the Columbus area in 2018 to be closer to family, Dr. Milheim is enjoying getting back to her roots and getting to know her new community.  Her family enjoys traveling, college sports, and music. She is involved with her youngest daughter’s school activities and happy to be surrounded by all things Buckeye, including TBDBITL events, where she and her husband met many years ago.

Jason Smith 

Office Manager and Study Coordinator

Jason joined our team in 2014 as our Office Manager and Study Coordinator. Jason has over 17 years of experience in the optical field. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Business in Business Management in 2004. He is the proud father of Wyatt, Hudson and husband to Abigail. He and his family reside in the Lewis Center area.

Carla Bowersox – Front Desk

Carla will greet you at the front desk with a smile. Carla joined our office in 2012 with over 13 years of experience. Carla is originally from the Ashland area. Carla is married to Dan and resides in the Powell area. Carla has two children and four grandchildren.

Gina Whaley – CPO

Gina Whaley has been a technician in the Eye Care Professionals family since 2016. Gina assists patients prior to their comprehensive examinations in all areas of pre-testing such as autorefraction and visual fields testing. She also received her CPO certification in 2017. Gina is a graduate of The Ohio State University and enjoys spending time with her 3 children as well as reading and watching sports.

Jennifer H.

LDO

Jennifer joined our optical department in 2016 as one of our licensed Opticians. She has been in the optical field since 1997 and received her license in 2001. Her and her husband Bryan along with their daughter Jocelyn and two dogs reside in the Lewis Center area. On weekends they enjoy watching the Buckeyes play football and spending time with family.

Julie H.

LDO, CPO

Julie has been in the optical industry since 1997. She is very knowledgeable in all aspects of the optical field. She received her Ohio Optical Dispensers license in 2001. She also achieved her Certified Paraoptometric Certification in 2008. She has been with the company over 9 years and is the eyewear gallery team leader.

Kiersten Sybert

CPO

Kiersten has been a part of EyeCare Professionals since the fall of 2015. Kiersten is an Ophthalmic Technician, Assistant Research Coordinator and also handles the contact lens department. Kiersten graduated from The Ohio State University. Outside of work Kiersten enjoys spending time with family, friends and watching The Ohio State Buckeyes.

Wendy M. – Optician

Wendy joined our office in 2015. Wendy will greet you at the front desk and the optical department. Wendy has over 4 years of experience in the optical field. Wendy studied Nursing at Clark State. Wendy and her family reside in the Dublin area.

Kelsey – Technician

Kelsey is a technician at EyeCare Professionals. Kelsey joined our team in 2018. Kelsey assists patients in the pretesting areas prior to their comprehensive examinations. Kelsey studied Health Sciences at The Ohio State University. Outside of work, Kelsey enjoys crafting projects and spending time with her family.

Rhonda

Rhonda joined our team in 2018 as a technician.  Along with an infectious charisma that translates through her smile, Rhonda brings a wealth of knowledge having worked in the medical field for over 18 years with experience spanning from private practice to a hospital setting.  When she’s not working she’s smiling and singing with her daughter Sophie.

 

Susan Cross – LDO, CPOA

Sue joined the EyeCare Professionals in 2019.  Sue has been in the optical industry since 1996. She received her Ohio Optical Dispensers License in 1998, achieved her Certified Paraoptometric certification from the American Optometric Association in 2008, and her Certified Paraoptometric Assistant certification in 2010. Sue also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education from Ohio University.

Sue and her husband, Thom, reside in northwest Columbus with their four-legged child, a beagle named Jack. In her spare time, Sue enjoys singing with Capriccio Columbus, cooking, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.
